From as far back as the inception of this publication in the mid'90's, to as recently as the 3rd of April this year, snow-machiners/ATV'ers have flouted the law pertaining to use of roadways by off-road vehicles and provate property owners' rights. This pair of miscreants was caught saying, "...don't care what the law says. We don't have to obey it, and neither does anyone else!!!" This has proven to be a pandemic attitude toward the laws governing this State.
These persons were confronted as they were leaving the scene of trespassing upon and destroying the serenity of the private property of one of many Caswell Lakes residents. Calls to Troopers were met with inaction and silence. Considering this, one must wonder if indeed they are correct, and that noone is beholden to any laws in this State. Could this be signs of a new brand of citizenship here in Alaska, where residents are enjoined from protecting property against invasion and destruction, while felons and vandals are left free to roam unchecked?
